In 1995 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. I had to endure six months of chemotherapy and month and a half of radiation. I had stress because Medi-Cal wouldn’t pay my bills and I was having calls from collectors. They claimed I had a share of cost of $700 and my Social Security was $800. I still owe a clinic $2000. It was Medi-Cal’s fault. No one would come and talk with me or help me. I also was having a hard time with chemotherapy. I was throwing up, I lost my hair, I was weak and my body was having a hard time. I recently have asthma, I have a closed off throat because of radiation I endured. I am no longer on Medi-Cal! If you want to reform a program reform Medi-Cal so in-home patients can have a visit from a worker. Don’t let anything like that happen like it did to me.
