I am a Viet Nam veteran, served in the public sector for 11 yrs till i retired at 56 from the San Bernardino County sheriffs dept because the stress was to much, with my retirement check of $992.00 I can’t afford health insurance from the county. From the V.A. I can only get care in a life threatening case except for min service. I feel I might have cancer but cant afford to have the tests done or the cost of treatment. I feel if I served in the military and in law enforcement I’m entitled to a little more respect as far as medical help than illegal immigrants that get free medical help plus all the other benefits they are getting. As an American citizen i deserve more. |
 There is Widespread Support for Reform
 81% of voters agree with the statement "it should be public policy that government guarantee that all Californians have access to affordable health care insurance or other health care coverage."

The inability to pay for needed prescription drugs (64%) or not being able to obtain affordable health insurance due to a pre-existing health condition (62%) is also seen a possible problem by more than six in ten.
