I have a pre-existing condition -ASTHMA. I’m not able to obtain regular health insurance or should i say I qualify for High Risk Insurance which is costing me $1,000.00 or so per month. But, I am otherwise a health person! I take Advair to control my asthma.. Yearly check-ups I’m HEALTHY!! I finished the Markleeville Death Ride 129 miles & i ride regularly to keep in shape!! But how can my monthly premiums get lowered? If I stopped working out my health would deteriorate. I make 30,000.00 or less a year - jobs with insurance are hard to obtain… what can you do for all californians in this situation.

Health care providers inflate costs to compensate for caring for the uninsured. Providers do not have unlimited pockets to secretly finance the health care provided to millions of uninsured (and underinsured) patients. Hospitals and physicians anticipate the fact that the uninsured will seek care each year. They prepare for this reality by setting prices for the insured that are higher than expected costs.
