I am disabled, due to hearing loss and from a prior back injury.  In California each county has their own Medical insurance.  In San Luis Obispo County, there is not one Medical and Dept. of Rehab. Audiologist that dispenses hearing aids.  Of course, a client could go to Bell Tone or any non-credential hearing aid dispenser; but they are not qualified educationally to diagnos clients with hearing loss.  You could go to them and get a hearing aid that is regulated by volume; but volume is not always the solution.  The first thing to go in hearing loss are the high tones.  I am moderately severely hearing impaired.  I have to go to Los Angeles House Clinic, which in the near future will not take Medical anymore, and they do not work with the Dept. of Rehab., because they get shortchanged in purchases.  So if I cannot get hearing aids in San Luis Obispo County by an Audiolgist, I went to the next county Santa Barbara.  Santa Barbara has their own HMO and they do not take clients from out of the county; therefore, I had to go to Los Angeles, which is an on-going continuium of travel back and forth.  After I get my hearing aids the 27th of this month, I will not be able to go back to the House Clinic, as I said, they are dropping Medical from their accepted insurers.  At some point in my life, I will have to get cohlear implants.  If I am unable to get one in San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, and not the House Clinic, I will have to shop in the L. A. yellow pages who would take Medical and the Dept. of Rehab. purchase order vendor request.  My point is that all counties should have the same Medical insurance.  The insanity of calling, searching, and trying to locate an Audiologist is extremely time consuming, let alone the stress one has to deal with trying to live in the solution.  I also do not agree that all people should have access to health insurance.  Only citizens of the U. S. should have insurance, education, medical, housing, government services, and “only” English in our education system, and all other forms of business.

Over 75 percent of those filing medical-related bankruptcies had health insurance at the onset of their illness.  Recent studies have found that nearly half of all personal bankruptcies in the US are related to medical causes, that those facing bankruptcy due to medical costs face average out-of-pocket costs of nearly $12,000, and that over 75 percent have health insurance at the onset of their illness.
